How Do Magnavox Lcd Televisions Compare?

Magnavox Lcd Television

The Magnavox line of LCD TVs is considered one of the value brands when searching for that first LCD television. Compared to the major brands such as Sony, Sharp and Phillips, Magnavox's picture and quality are rated as average. Produced in China and bearing a slightly simpler design, these televisions are more easily distinguished from their counterparts by the difference in their clarity and outer appearance. However, because of the much lower price point, they are a valued option for anyone looking to purchase an LCD television for a decent price.

Magnavox offers approximately 15 different models of LCD TVs, ranging between 15" and 50" in size and sporting varying designs depending on their model. The most striking thing about the Magnavox line of televisions is the lower price. A 26" Magnavox LCD TV costs no more than $500 from some online retailers, costing half of what the competition charges.

However, the picture quality is the most important aspect of a television purchase for many individuals and not the price. Color options on the Magnavox line are varied throughout, but often do not allow for nearly as many color options as the competition. Out of the box, a Magnavox Flat Screen TV is stricken with an artificially bright contrast that can not be calibrated to the optimum levels of brands like Sharp and Sony because of its irregular color settings.

The screen does display contrasts in sharp detail though and offers a highly glare resistant screen for those with glare problems in their homes. High Definition picture is impressive for the most part, especially for anyone who has never seen high definition video before. Unfortunately, for those that have, the blurring and trailing in some instances can be problematic and cause disruptions in the picture.

There are two different basic designs for Magnavox LCD TVs. The first is a silver, plastic-like look that features side speakers on the television. For the less expensive models especially, this is a standard look and can be a problem when trying to fit the Magnavox television in with a crowded décor.

The other design features a slick black casing, more typical for high end LCD televisions, with a smooth, rounded frame. The speakers are not present on these larger models as the bigger options tend to be the ones with this design. It looks much cleaner and much more efficient in any room of the house than the silver variation and usually features slightly clearer picture quality than the other models.

For those looking to buy their first HDTV, a Magnavox LCD TV is a great choice. They are inexpensive, only slightly less vivid than the big brands and offer decent HD output regardless of the input being used. Research the size and necessary model for your home before making a final decision though as there are variations between each Magnavox LCD television model.
